Dear Students:
Welcome Back!! What a Christmas break! The last time we were all together, we left the school on December 18th singing, “Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow!” And, snow it did! In fact we had almost 24 inches of snow. All of this added up to 3 snow days in addition to our regular Christmas break. We then had an unusual return on Jan. 4th.
It’ s great being back with all of you. I hope you enjoyed your time off and remembered to spend some time with Jesus.
Did you make a New Year’s Resolution? If so, what is your resolution?

See you on Monday.

Dear Boys and Girls:
In our readings from the Children’s Daily Prayer (2009-2010) we learned that November 1st was the Solemnity of All Saints, when we celebrate all saints in heaven who pray for us and encourage us through their lives. Today is traditionally known as All Souls Day, when we remember and pray for all who have died. Our families may set out pictures of departed loved ones or visit their graves. We give thanks for their lives.
When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up the mountain; and after he sat down, his disciples came to him. Then he began to speak, and taught them, saying:
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven;
Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted;
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth;
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled;
Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy;
Blessed are the pure of heart, for they will see God;
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God;
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
During the month of November, you will be studying the lives of many of the saints. As you do, look for the qualities that inspire you.
Have a terrific week.

Hello Students:
In our morning prayers today, we discussed how much God loves us.
How do you show God that you love Him?
I would love to hear from you.

Hi Everyone,
We are almost at the end of our first full week of class. You have done a terrific job this year. This has been the smoothest opening I can remember. During today’s prayer time, Jesus tells us, “Do to others as you would have them do to you.” This is a very important message. We have many new students in our school this year. Are you treating them the way that you would want to be treated if you were in a new school? How many new friends have you made so far this year? What have you done to make our new friends feels special?
We had an excellent fire drill and lock down practice! These practices will continue every month–even in cold weather, rain, and snow. Always remember to be quiet and follow directions during drills.
There are many planned activities for this school year that I know you will enjoy. Enjoy the weekend, you deserve it.

Dear Students:
What a terrific first day of school! Everything went very smoothly. It was fun to see returning students and to meet those who are new to the school. As I walked through the halls, I saw students working, discussing, reading, and learning. Some classes were taking walking tours of the buildings while others were changing classes for the first time.
Congratulations! This is going to be a wonderful year.
