Happy New Year 2009!

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Happy New Year! I hope that you were able to enjoy the holiday season with your families and friends. The faculty and I would like to thank everyone for the well wishes, gifts, and tasty treats that were bestowed upon us this holiday season.

Students who participated in the various fundraisers and earned dress down days may dress down from now until January 22nd. Dress down days were earned for participation in: Innisbrook; Joe Corbi, and Christmas Wreaths. Students, whose parents attend the PTA meeting on Jan. 21st, will earn a dress down day on Jan 23rd.

Catholic Schools Week will begin January 25th. Further information will be forthcoming.

May the joys of this holy season continue throughout the new year for you and your families.

Merry Christmas 2008

Dear Parents,

We have had a very exciting December. From the Santa Shop to the Christmas programs, the students have been very busy. Our Student Council officers were sworn in during a beautiful ceremony in the church. The newly formed Student Council collected toys for the “Toys for Tots” Program. The NJHS and the Student Council sold “Candygrams”. In addition, we collected used coats for those less fortunate and toiletries for the troops overseas.

Our chorus and dance clubs, under the direction of Mrs. Anderson and Ms. Durham, presented a wonderful production of the musical, “Mrs. Claus to the Rescue”. The Cooking Club, with Mrs. Simon, made gingerbread houses with their parents. The primary grades celebrated St. Nicholas’ Day earlier in the month.

Our basketball season is fully underway. Congratulations to all of our athletes and a special thank you to all of our coaches.

On behalf of the faculty, staff, administration, and priests of Bishop Schad Regional School, I would like to wish you and your families a truly blessed Christmas. Thank you for everything you do for the school. We are blessed to have you as a part of our school family.

God Bless!

Dear Parents and Guardians:

Congratulations and thank you to all of the parents, children, faculty and staff who participated in the Vineland Christmas parade. The float was absolutely beautiful!!! Bishop Schad’s entry won the second place trophy.

All of our students are studying Advent–”a time of quiet, joyful preparation for the celebration of Jesus’ birth…” The Magnificat of Mary (Luke 1:46-55) is a wonderful prayer to learn during Advent. Through weekly Mass attendance, children are able to participate in the full meaning of Advent both in school and in church.

Our “Santa’s Shop” runs through December 5th. Students may do their holiday shopping throughout the week–while supplies last.

Our Christmas show, “Mrs. Clause to the Rescue” will take place on December 18th at 7:00 PM in the Sacred Heart Church Hall. Please come and enjoy the show!

For the safety and security of all our students, alternate arrangements regarding your child’s dismissal should be made with the homeroom teacher. This should be in note form. We have many calls coming into the office, particularly right before dismissal. While there may be emergencies or extenuating circumstances, calls to the office should be the exception rather than the rule. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Have a great week,

Dr. DeMartino

Dear Parents and Guardians:

Elections for Student Council officers will take place this week. We have a terrific group of students who are running for the various offices and we are extremely proud of all of them. It takes great courage to run for any office and they are all winners, regardless of individual outcomes.

We are continuing the canned food drive (non-perishables) this month. Each student is asked to bring in a minimum of two cans or boxes of food. This is the last week to bring food items in. The food will be distributed to local food closets/kitchens for distribution. The class with the highest food count will receive a dress down day.

There is no afterschool program on Wednesday, November 26th or Tuesday, December 23rd. All students will be dismissed at noon on both days.

Congratulations to everyone involved with our radio program. You are doing a fantastic job. We all look forward to your weekly radio podcast.

Join us tomorrow, 11-18-08, for Burger King Night. A portion of the proceeds goes directly to the school. A special thank you to the BKN PTA committee. As a reminder, you must go into the restaurant, you can not use the drive through.

Friday, 11-21-08, is a noon dismissal day. Students who stay for the afterschool program that day are reminded to bring their lunch to school.

[God said,] “I will comfort you as a mother comforts her child.” ISAIAH: 13
You can talk to God and he will make you feel happy again!

Have a great week and remember to keep God in your weekend plans by attending Mass at your parish church.

Dear Parents and Guardians.

On Nov. 3rd, BSR students voted for the President of the United States. Senator McCain won, with 53% of the vote. This was a terrific experience for the students. Each student was given a voter registration card, signed in, and then cast their ballot.

IMPORTANT NOTICE
Students may only ride on the school bus they were assigned to by the Vineland Board of Education. In the past, with parent permission, some students would ride a friend’s bus if they were going home with them. This will no longer be permitted. Look for the official notice in the brown envelope.

This is the final week for ordering Christmas wreaths. The deadline has been extended until Friday, November 7, 2008. Wreath orders will not be accepted after the 7th. Students who participated in this fundraiser will earn a dress down day.

Please remember to vote today!

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the PTA and the Casino Royale committee members for a job well done. The Casino Royale night was a tremendous success and everyone had an enjoyable time. The hard work of the committee was apparent. Thank you, again.

Halloween parties will be held the last hour of the school day on October 31st. On that day, students may dress in black and/or orange, and wear a silly hat and silly socks. We are sure they will have a great day! Winners of the pumpkin decorating contest will be announced.

Thank you to all the parents that supported our Innisbrook Wrapping paper drive. We sent home wreath order forms yesterday. The price of the wreath includes the delivery charge.

I hope you have had a chance to listen to our radio broadcast–WBSR. It can be found on our website or downloaded from iTunes (just type in WBSR in the search box).

Enjoy the weekend,

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Tomorrow night is Casino Royale Night sponsored by the PTA. Please join us from 7-11 for an exciting evening. Thank you to all the volunteers who organized this project.

Have you listened to the newest addition to our website: WBSR Radio? This weekly radio program is created and produced by the WBSR Radio Club under Mr. Uznanski’s direction. This podcast can also be found on iTunes.

The students have a busy two weeks ahead of them. On Thursday, October 23rd, the students will have “Phillies Day”. Students may wear a Philles top or red top with jeans or pants and sneakers. Students may also wear any type of Phillies hat.

Halloween parties will be held on 10/31 from 1:00 - 2:00. Students may wear orange and black that day and wear a ‘crazy hat’. The winners of the classroom pumpkin decorating contest will be announced.

We are creating a “Basket of Life” with the names of loved ones that have passed on. This basket will be placed in church for the month of November. Parents will be emailed information regarding this and students will be given slips in school to fill out.

Parents, please send in a written note to your child’s teacher if the mode of transportation at the end of the day changes. It is easier and safer for all concerned, if students and teachers have the details in writing. We appreciate your cooperation in this matter.

We will sell the Christmas Wreaths again this year. Information will be sent home at the end of the month. As a reminder, these wreaths are delivered directly to the persons indicated and the delivery fee is built into the price of the wreaths.

Have a wonderful weekend and remember to keep God in your weekend plans.

Newsletter 10-06-08

Dear Parents and Guardians:

We have already begun our second month of school. The students are working diligently and we are all very proud of them.

The Sacred Heart Art Auction was a success and our student drawings were the hit of the show. We would like to thank all of those parents who came and supported this worthy endeavor (especially when they can get drawings for free). Everyone was a terrific sport! The school would like to thank Sacred Heart Parish for their generosity by making a donation to the tuition assistance fund.

Our next event is the BSR Casino Royale Night on October 18th. We ask that you support this PTA sponsored event, which benefits the school. The members of the committee have worked tirelessly all summer long putting this event together. This promises to be an exceptional night. Students who paid the $5 dress down contribution can dress down on 10/15. Due to their field trip, 8th grade participants may dress down on 10/16.

Friday, 10/10 is School Picture Day. Students wear their school uniforms for the pictures. Students that have gym that day do not wear their gym uniforms–they wear their regular school uniform. There will be light gym activities. There is no school on 10/13.

Have a terrific week,

Dr. DeMartino

Dear Parents/Guardians:

On behalf of the priests, administration, faculty, and staff of Bishop Schad Regional School, I would like to welcome everyone to the 2008-2009 school year.

We completed our first full week of school and what an exciting week it has been! Our Kindergarten students began on Monday. We survived the thunderstorm, which began during our lunchtime on Tuesday. And, on Wednesday, we raised money for the Disaster Relief Fund of the American Red Cross.

The BSR “Back-to-School Night/Open House” will be held on Wednesday from 6:30-8:30. Parents will come directly to the school. There will not be a meeting beforehand in the cafeteria. The PTA Executive Board will be available in the library to accept PTA dues, answer questions, and sign-up volunteers.

Friday, Sept. 19th, is a noon dismissal day. Students who participate in the after school program on that day need to bring a lunch to school. Sunday, Sept. 21st, is Catechetical Sunday, honoring the teachers of religion. The BSR teachers will be recognized at the 10:30 Mass at Sacred Heart Parish.

As a school community, BSR collects the following items: Box Tops for Education; Soda Tabs, Campbell Soup Labels, and Printer/Computer Ink Cartridges.

A very special thank you to Mainline Flooring for the donation and installation of new carpeting in our Media Center. Please be sure to drop by and see it on Sept. 17th.

Thank you for choosing BSR. We are looking forward to an enriching and exciting year. Have a wonderful weekend, and remember to keep God in your weekend plans.
